Perched on a hillside overlooking the vast Pacific Ocean lies a very special place we call Marquez Charter School. Marquez is an exceptional school where dedicated, highly trained teachers work closely with parents and the Palisades community to ensure that every child receives a quality education that will enable them to succeed in the 21st century. A 2008 California Distinguished School, Marquez was also recently named an Apple Distinguished School, in recognition of its Digital Edge program.
What Makes Us Unique
• Digital Edge Program that fully integrates laptops into the school curriculum at a ratio of 2:1 from grades 1-5.
• Active parent participation through the Friends of Marquez Booster Club, the PTA, and classroom support.
• A 24:1 student teacher ratio in grades K-3 and class size reduction using CSR teachers in grades 4-5.
• A PE program that provides approximately 40 hours of instruction per week.
• A comprehensive enrichment program, including arts and music education in the classroom, supplemented by professional instruction through the Studio Art and Children’s Music Workshop programs.
• An Edible Growing Ground that serves as an outdoor classroom to enhance nutrition and agriculture awareness along with science curriculum studies.
• Three historically-based, award-winning musicals performed by 5th grade students to learn social studies curriculum through the arts.
Admissions
Marquez Charter School, as a neighborhood school, gives first priority in admission to students who live in its attendance area in the Pacific Palisades community of Los Angeles but also provides for the education of non-neighborhood students who wish to attend based on the District’s Desegregation or Integration policy. To enroll, families must provide verification of date of birth, residence and immunizations. Prospective families are welcome to tour the school; call the front office to make arrangements. Kindergarten/Newcomer Orientations are conducted in the fall and spring.
